And if you are an institution that sells out, it’s unforgivable.
“I had to do it. They were going to cut off our funding.”
That our nonprofits, news organizations and elected officials are continuously using this excuse as though there is anything redeeming in the statement, makes my head spin around like Beetlejuice.
It’s really very simple: if you can’t teach people what you know to be true–as a teacher, a scientist, an artist, an educator–because if you do you’ll lose money–then the money is the barrier to you doing your job.
Say “Fuck the money.” And then keep doing your job.
I have to say, the universities are the most disappointing (not you Harvard! Look at you, showing people what “elite” should REALLY mean. You’re the best of the best–you, go girl!). Are you seriously telling me that with those tuition prices, with the people paying far outweighing the people teaching, that you can’t figure out a way to teach students to think critically without even more money?

Dare I say, you are not smart or wise enough to be educating anyone if this is the case. You prove that you never were a serious university. Education has always been last on the list of what concerns these universities.
The immediate acceptance and capitulation to this regime–acknowledging them as where your bread is buttered, and as people with authority–is, and I mean it precisely: endorsing fascism and betraying the United States of America–a country defined by its citizens, not any government, and certainly not organized gangs who traffic human beings and terrorize us all.
And that is, entirely, who is holding our money. Not a government. But the weakest gang of bitches you’ve ever seen.
Every University that capitulates to Trump is Trump University. Unserious. A place you go to be made dumb and poor.
The rest of us must make a concerted effort to build where they left off.

We are past the point of asking others to do for us. We rebuild this country without the corrupted “powers that be” or we declare ourselves in service to fascism.
Half of the businesses in my town are in danger of closing. And this is a town that is comprised of small businesses, that bars most corporate chains–but people have become afraid of people, and are staying home.
Never let these terrorists make you fear other human beings. If we have a prayer, we’ll have to get out there and look each other in the eye, circulate our money among ourselves and not let it flow up, and look for any alternative to capitulation.
They want you fearing your neighbor and yourself so you will rely on fascist money. Don’t fall for it. Get creative –that skill the tech lords are hoping to take from you. You’ll be surprised how much you can accomplish just showing up.

If you want some entertainment to help you find the courage to start, Process: A Digital Cabaret is now playing. Every ticket sold helps me build a sustainable life and gets the show up on its feet for a free public access production.
Don’t have a dime to your name (I feel you!) and still want to help and see the show? I’ll have a barter list up soon! You can also put out zines in your area to promote the show and grab a ticket! Message me, or look for an update that this week!
