Incredible, the nerve of saying “structural racism” is to blame for the hardship, and celebrate a “fantastically diverse culture” and then in the same breath, blame all crime on the homeless and say they need to be put away. Poverty is the tool used to keep structural racism in place you horrifying bigot. You love fantastic diversity…so long as everyone acts the way you want them. Prick. When you beat people and starve them and rape them and put them on the street, when they become desperate and act like it, you call them a threat and imply that they’re acting all upset because they are bad people. Who will rent to them after what you said? Who will give them a job? YOU destroyed them, and now you want to destroy the life they’ve cobbled together so that Oakland can reach its “full potential”? You aren’t just a bigot, but you are a true moron. And why the FUCK should we trust YOU to determine what “reaching full potential in Oakland” means, you fucking transplant? Because YOU started a war with THEM.And what do you think will happen when the Oakland law passes? Where will they go next? Oh, not your problem if they move to another town. That it should be okay to force homeless people to take drugs and to imprison them, because middle and upper class people think “unpleasant” and “insane” are the same thing. But I’ve got news for people: pain management, and being angry and fighting for your life and even being a total asshole are not qualities of insane people. They are qualities of abused people. They are sane reactions to constant abuse. And your solution is to abuse them more, and take away even lip service of rights. Quite frankly, I no longer care that they are apparently waving guns in your face every day. It sounds like you are a direct and immediate threat to them, and they are acting in self defense.You can’t just call forced injections and imprisonment “nurturing” and make it so. Are you sure you aren’t the insane one? You want to kidnap homeless people and force them to take drugs in a facility they cannot leave until they are “well” (and who decides that?)–and you call it nurturing like a fucking cuckoo bananas loon. You sound like a homicidal maniac. Can someone get the paddy wagon for this guy?Guess what asshole: homeless people would also like to be safe. They can’t get healthcare. They use drugs. They don’t have walls. They leave the needles on the ground. They’d like to stay indoors, but you want to steal their wheels, which is all you left the luckiest ones. And when they have the nerve to present the problem in plain sight so you, in all your middle class wisdom, can deal, YOU are the one who cannot deal, and just say, “Out of sight, out of mind. Take them away boys.” You’re an evil, dangerous fucker who has everything and wants to steal from and abuse the poor. The streets aren’t safe with YOU.
There is only one way to combat homelessness: give the people homes that they own. We cannot begin to determine who is mentally healthy until people have their basic needs met. And a home is not something you should earn with CONFORMITY.
Conformity it NEVER SANE in an INSANE culture. It cannot be.
Let’s start with giving them Sanford’s home. I’ve deemed him criminally insane, and therefore it doesn’t matter what happens to him. I’m sorry–I mean, let’s “nurture” Sanford until he is “well.”
Or… we could all just live and let live–and look for the humanity in people who seem too difficult to deal with so we can benefit from their insights into things the rest of us are unwilling to see.
Because truth time: yeah, I hate walking around with needles and fires, too. I also–like everyone, like you–want the insanity to stop on the streets.
But it won’t end until it ends in the middle class. It won’t end until the middle class stops mistaking being sheltered with being sane. It won’t stop until you stop taking everything the impoverished have or build. The insanity in the street will not stop until we place care above control.
Here’s a hint on how to tell the difference: if your solution doesn’t include homes for citizens to own, you value control. Not care. Fine. Own it. But if you try and “nurture” someone to conformity or death, don’t be surprised when they “nurture” you right back by taking a dump on your lawn.
