The Good News

The White Christian Nationalists and the Tech Billionaires’ plan to put us at each other’s throats will ultimately backfire and unite us all in a quest for democracy and against oppression and corruption. And then there will be a giant leap forward in refining democratic processes, business practices, product development, the arts, education and healthcare.

The Bad News? We don’t know when that will happen, and we do not just have enemies from within: We have many foreign enemies who will look to exploit and seize us–most likely just our money and weapons, but with Agent Krasnov in charge, the US is their oyster. We also are at war with our own climate, the entire country is addicted to drugs and entertainment, and are unpracticed in relating to each other, and we’re also all getting poorer by the day. Oh, and there’s a dumb AI arms race that nobody wants and which, if it’s aims are achieved, will kill us all.

So the Good News is racing the Bad News towards the end result. If Good News gets there first, life becomes significantly better, and as a direct result of the actions of the people. Which is, of course, ideal in rebuilding democracy. And if the Bad News gets there first, we all die. Basically. I’m sure some people will barely survive, as well.

But if we do not all die or otherwise become slaves to despair, then it is inevitable that this convergence of evil will be met with a convergence of people fighting for the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and we can expect that worldwide. My reasoning is simple: The Authoritarian push is happening worldwide. The monotheisms are tightening their grip on governance and culture worldwide, in preparation of going to war with each other. But it’s idiotic, and too much democracy has happened, and too much history, and too much integration, and too much education for the people to find this anything but something to reject. We all can feel that social media is bad for us, and exists in service to a repulsive surveillance state. We all can feel that oppression and tyranny are not normal or natural. And because we can all see the ways in which our governments are tied together economically–because it was globalism that allowed the money to flow to the top, and then to only a few, and create the economic woes that make everywhere, all at once, ripe for a fascist authoritarian takeover, the reaction to that takeover will also be global, everywhere, and all at once. Meaning, we will have a massive global movement for democracy, that stems from the people.

And because the wealth and power are in the hands of so few people, and there is no longer hope among people that they will be among the ones to get some wealth for themselves, we will collaborate, and be more clever in our methods–in addition to vastly outnumbering the opposition, which is only a handful of people. And so, we will win. If they don’t kill us all, first.

Every awful thing has a silver lining. The silver lining of the wealth gap is that when it widens past a certain point, money ceases to have meaning, which enables people to forget their quest for status and work together to solve fundamental problems. This mimics all things in the universe: We come together, the convergence becomes explosive, we scatter and drift, as we drift, we drift again towards one another in new but similar configuration, and the process starts again. The convergence is inevitable.

Just how the money which has converged at the top will reach a breaking point and become explosive–most likely at the point that the convergence of people screaming for democracy crashes into the convergence of billionaires and authoritarians. That money will then scatter and drift, at which point, alliances will start to form. The money and power, will again start to come back together, as alliances are formed to combat the hostile universe, and a new economy–but one that is ultimately similar to before (everything is always ultimately similar to what was before)–will emerge, as a fresh, newborn baby.

But how long do such cycles take? And will the cycle have a chance to complete? In all cases except human extinction: Yes. It will. But again…how long does such a cycle take?

As long as it takes. A day, a year, a hundred years. If I were forced to guess at gunpoint, I would say I predict that these regimes are largely toppled on a global scale within 30 years, and new democracies stabilized in 60? But it really depends on how and when events occur. And of course, some places will get there faster than others. As of right now, it’s anyone’s ball game for leading the free world.

That sounds like a long time, but consider the history of patriarchal monotheism, which ultimately is where these wars–cultural, political, military and otherwise–stem from. What we are experiencing right now is the death knell of the monotheisms. It is why they are so loud, so belligerent, fighting so hard, flailing so hard, are so frightening. Because they are dying. Because nobody needs them. Nobody wants them. And they are no longer relevant to the world at large. Nobody goes down easy unless taken by surprise. The people in power see what’s coming. They don’t surround themselves in money or buy extravagant bunkers because they have faith in their survival. They are dying, and they know it.

So how much trouble will they cause on their way out? Well, let’s put it this way: We are no longer surprised by their antics, either. And we have the advantage of being pretty much alive. But don’t underestimate them: I am speaking about the future, and as of today, money is NOT meaningless. As of today, they have quite a lot of power behind them. As of today, they only know they are dying–they do not feel it. Which means as of today, the people in power have the mentality of a Walter White: Get while the getting is good. Get as much as you can before the imminent demise. They will kill and cause panic all around them, to prove to themselves it is not they who are dying–it is everyone else. But the power they hold is a cancer, and it will kill them. We are watching power converge into something ascendant. It seems supernatural, God-like, intimidating. But ascension is also death. Whether you are ascending to “the heavens,” or flying into the sun, like Icharus. Put another way: What goes up, must come down. They appear otherworldly because they are already dead. It is only a matter of time. How much? Roughly, the time it takes to spend all of their money and resources on trying not to die.

But no matter what they try to convince themselves of, they are not immortal, and neither is their power, and neither is their money, and there is nothing they can do about it. They can upload their brain into a robot, but machinery also gets old, and effectively, dies. They can try to print whole new versions of themselves with technology or cloning, but that flesh will be mortal too, and the machines that make it possible, vulnerable to unplugging. They can have many children, but even love and memory is not immortal, and is gone within a couple of generations tops, even among people who aren’t the actual fucking worst.

If you want your thoughts to live on forever, you’d do better to write them on a piece of paper and make some copies.

The good news is this: Nothing is forever. And the powerful few who are attempting to destroy all of our lives, are also accelerating their own cancer in the process, and building a worldwide army of people who will be happy to see them fall. They have ironically set the stage for a new enlightenment, better democracy, and a worldwide spread of those ideals that comes about organically from the people themselves–the best and strongest way for democracy and enlightenment to spread.

But only if we see the arc, take the long view, and keep our heads.
