Genesis

There is one more thing I want to say about Process while I’m still in art brain and before marketing brain: Part of why it’s difficult to promote this show is that I view it very much as the Genesis of something enormous. If I had to guess at what my next show would be called, it would be something like, “Sex Drive.” As for this show, I associate it with Nyx, the night, the abyss born from chaos, and how the dark churns into Genesis. A start.

It is written for the moment. It’s a dark show. And also filled with humor. And a little discombobulated. But it gains momentum towards action, whatever its own resistance.

Process is the start of something important. It’s where all of these disparate pieces I’ve been building over the past year come into cohesion. My own process mirrors the world around me. I built this show so we could all feel the things we’ve been afraid to feel, and face the fears we are afraid to confront. There is no aspect of this show that doesn’t scare me. And that is why it exists. It is personal–though I will be the first to admit it does not go far enough. This is a process. And this is the start of something enormous.

Times are changing, and in harsh, confrontational ways. But I believe humanity and truth and love will prevail.

We are here to usher in the future –we never should have expected this wouldn’t be a fight. We are the greatest nation on earth because we are a nation of artists. They have asked you to forget it. Process is where I’m asking us to come together and remember it. And attempt to be it.

For whatever could have been done better, gone deeper, been truer, been more beautiful, Process embodies the chaos, disconnection, and dread of 2025. And it points towards the light. And I talk and sing well. I genuinely cannot wait for you to see this show, and to see what comes next.
