On Mamdani’s alliance with Trump.
Recently, the mayor of New York met with Trump. And Trump said he liked Mamdani very much.
When asked to respond to the fact that Trump–who is a pedophile, rapist, murderer, Russian agent, chaos agent, enemy of the United States and democracy, and friend of Jeffrey Epstein–said he liked him very much, he said that he was willing to meet with “anyone who can deliver for New York.”
The comments seemed to think this was a perfect and righteous answer.
And, of course, they love his ever present (and fucking creepy) smile.
Mamdani didn’t say his name in the clip, but I wonder if they would feel differently if he had said the word “Trump” out loud. Or had described him not as a guy who can “deliver for New York” but as the person he actually is.
What if he had said, “I’m willing to negotiate with Trump if it might bring New York more money.” He would be communicating the exact same thing. What if he had said, “I will meet with anyone–including someone who cheats at everything and who rapes little girls and who has never paid for anything he said he would pay for in his life, and let him control the purse strings to pay for things as vital as housing.”
What if he had said, “I’m willing to meet with Jeffrey Epstein if he can pay for housing in New York.”? What if he had said, “I’m willing to meet with Peter Thiel if he might pay for housing in New York.”?
But he says it with a smile, and he glosses over who, exactly, it was that he met with. And people are satisfied.
And what’s more, New Yorkers fell for it when he characterized himself and Trump together as “just a couple of New Yorkers who want to deliver for New York.”
Oh. Is that just what Trump is? Just a New Yorker who loves New York?”
So, according to Mamdani, his brilliant pitch to the president has persuaded him to believe in low income housing and helping Haitian immigrants. So long as someone is willing to help this city, he’ll meet with them, he says. The crowd accepts that at face value.
And I’m incredibly flabbergasted by it. Because to believe Mamdani, you have to throw out EVERY. SINGLE. THING. we know about Donald J. Trump.
Do we really believe that Trump has seen the light and now believes in low income housing? Do we believe that Mamdani single-handedly made him embrace immigrants who aren’t white? Do we believe that Mamdani’s smile is so winning, that Trump will suddenly be the kind of guy who makes good on promises?
The question I haven’t heard asked is, “What is Trump expecting from you in return?”
I don’t know how to break it to people, but this is selling out for money. And it is ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENT than when Republicans sell out to Trump in order to fund part of THEIR agenda. It’s not different.
How is this man going to preserve democracy in New York, how is he going to protect his citizens from ICE, how is he going to stand up against the surveillance state, when he is begging the man who builds a militarized surveillance state for money?
What will Trump need him to look the other way on? What will Trump need him to DO to help Trump? Is there anyone in the world who thinks Trump is not requiring anything in return? Does that sound like Donald J. Trump?
An agenda, by the way, which is doomed to become the communism it is accused of being, if it requires the centralized authority of Trump to make it happen.
This is precisely why I am specifically against “Universal housing.” When the government owns your home, and the government is Donald Trump, what the fuck do you think that looks like?
Do you think it gets better and better over time, or do you think it deteriorates? Does it come with government behavioral control of those living there as a requirement for keeping it? Does it leave the people living there at the mercy of Trump’s agenda? Does it round up all of the poor people into a government building and put them on a list, and require them to report to the government and prove their worth over and over again? What happens when they can’t?
These are things that already happened with low-income housing when the people in charge weren’t accelerationists trying to bring down the United States. Now that they are, do YOU want to live in government housing? What do you think that actually looks like?
What world do people think we are living in?
There is, by the way, a way for Mamdani to preserve democracy AND get people housing in New York (I recognize that home ownership for all is not something that will happen inside of New York City, where everything is already owned): He just has to put corporate criminals in prison and seize their assets as the government does with any criminal drug dealer.
For some reason using the justice system is not seen as an option. We go first to begging Trump. Which validates his legitimacy. Which gives Trump a win. Which allows him to say to the people, “Look how I helped the poor. Look how I helped immigrants.”
Does Trump help the poor? Does Trump help immigrants? Do we believe he will? Does it erase what he’s done if he does?
New Yorkers are officially every bit as stupid as the people in MAGA, and yes, I mean it. They have fallen for a cult of personality. They are putting their personal profit above the health of the nation. They are ignoring what they don’t want to hear and only focusing on promises–promises that any thinking person must know will never truly come to fruition. And they are doing it because they like Mamdani’s smile.
So many years we’ve looked at the right and said, “How can they believe him! How can they ignore his crimes! How can they be so stupid!”
But the minute Mamdani says Trump is just a New Yorker who loves New York and who can deliver for New York, the crowd says, “Wow. You must be a fucking miracle worker, Mamdani! I believe! I believe!
“That’s not me! I hate Trump! I’m trying to help the POOR!” you might say.
But it is you. And you’re not helping the poor. You are helping Donald J. Trump. Because Trump is a man incapable of helping anyone but himself, and YOU FUCKING WELL KNOW THAT.
Yesterday Trump issued an executive order about America.gov, which is how he wants the citizens to interact with government agencies and elected politicians: Through an AI Chatbot.
It’s an executive order that, if we don’t fight it, destroys democracy all on its own. It means the people are not represented by elected officials. It means the elected officials can reroute the public to instead appeal to Grok–Elon Musk’s robot proxy, also known as “MechaHitler.” He demanded that government agencies begin pouring all of their data–OUR DATA–into MechaHitler.
Now is not a time to make deals with Trump. It’s not the time to legitimize his presidency. It’s not a time to rely on him for ANYTHING. If anything, we need mayors who reject this presidency entirely. Mamdani cannot be more clear that he regards the difference between him and Trump one of opinion–not a difference of one who stands for democracy and one who is an enemy of democracy. Just two guys from New York who love New York.
We need to believe Mamdani when he characterized both Trump and himself as people who want to deliver to New York–as two people with a shared goal–but what will they deliver? What is the goal?
You can be absolutely certain that if Trump is in the mix, nothing good. And you can be absolutely certain that anyone Trump likes a lot is a terrible fucking person.

It’s time to ask if they were EVER different from one another. I don’t believe they are.
Fascism or Communism–when you centralize power, control, and authority, you are building totalitarianism. The only difference seems to be: Will we centralize power, wealth and authority and make the people beholden to it with big social programs, which over time will slip away with nothing left but the authoritarian control? Or will we just simply give them nothing from the jump?
Meanwhile NOBODY is asking how we preserve democracy. Nobody is asking how we give the people ownership of the country–real ownership, where they have control and a say and autonomy and a vote on concerns that affect us all and freedom over concerns that are nobody else’s business.
It’s not Mamdani’s push for more social programs that makes him the communist the right said he was. It’s his alliance with Donald J. Trump, who works for Russia, sells weapons to China, admires North Korea, depletes the US resources, expands the military, and wants us to own nothing.
Wake the fuck up. And go get laid so you aren’t so dazzled by a smiling man with a twinkle in his eye. Blech.
