We used to call the centralization of power and money communism. We used to call a competitive market capitalism.
I do not understand this incessant need to call what is happening to us “late stage capitalism.” Quite frankly, I suspect this language is mimicking Russian trolls who want you confused, and to associate our economy with “the west”–which historically is associated with a free market and democracy, and not with communism, which is actually the force taking hold.
Trump is Putin’s guy.
Netanyahu is Putin’s guy.
Putin –if you didn’t know, is a KGB agent from the Soviet era (communist).
I want you, for a second, to forget about your notion that in communism, “the people control the means of production.”
Because that is obviously not true. Communism is when all of the labor and capital and resources are in one pot. Which makes totalitarian rule pretty much inevitable, as it only takes one evil psychopath in the mix of power to have it corrupt immediately.
Capitalism is when there is market competition.
Is this all because Republicans say they hate communism? So you just retort with “But look at capitalism!”?
This isn’t capitalism, that we’re experiencing. As Teddy Roosevelt made clear, there cannot be a free market without monopoly busting. It isn’t that it’s nice and fair to let the little guy compete. It’s that if you don’t, your capitalism ceases to be capitalism.
When a small group of corporations control your communication, your money, your behavior, your country’s defense and weapons, they aren’t corporations who out competed everyone else: they are simply, “the state.” It’s a communist system.
And I know it feels really smart to say the word oligarchy, and it seems very nuanced to say, “the west is so arrogant with their capitalism…”
But you fucking fools, you are advocating for precisely the thing that you do not want.
“Well, you know, when capitalism reaches a certain point, it starts to mimic communism, but that doesn’t mean–“
Yes, motherfucker, I’ve heard. It’s all very complicated.
But it’s not.
Russia and China have attacked our country through our communication. Through psychological warfare. Through apps.
They are doing this because they are fighting the west for world domination.
“The west” being countries where (until recently), you could start an independent business and make your own way and decide your own life.
And when you say “Fuck capitalism. Fuck the west,” you are siding with Russia and China. You are siding with the corporations. All of whom want all of the money in one pot, for them to distribute with totalitarian rule. You think you are critiquing the problems with capitalism (there are plenty), but when you back up, you are just creating the justification for totalitarians to do their thing.
Remember that word? Totalitarian? I never hear that word anymore. Just Oligarchy.
“Uh, idiot, Russia is also an oligarchy, not communist–“
Motherfucker, that’s just another way of saying communist. It’s new communist. It’s just rebranding.
I know I’m like a broken record on this but I can’t stand watching us mindfuck each other into oblivion. We can’t do anything about the enshittification of everything, unless we understand what is happening to us. And if you keep siding with the communists–the totalitarians–we’re gonna see more enshittification.
You want people to care about the genocide in Gaza?
Stop laying it at the feet of capitalism. Like, what? Lay it at the feet of communism. Tell your Republican uncle, “I can’t stand that Netanyahu because he’s a commie bastard!”
Suddenly he will go from dismissing you outright to saying, “What do you mean?” And listening. Tell him you love freedom. You hate totalitarianism.
And then maybe we’ll have a country that can come together to fight for democracy.
But we can’t do that if you keep playing your stupid fucking word games because of your stupid, petty feelings. Republicans want to own the libs, and you want to own them right back.
Motherfucker, stop fighting your neighbor and start fighting for democracy. Just speak the same fucking language, quit making everything stupidly, moronically complicated, and say what you mean.
We want freedom, democracy, and a right to self reliance for all. So that totalitarian states do not oppress and starve the people.
We all agree on that.
If you are wondering why people can’t hear you, why they do not care about Gaza, it’s because they barely know what Gaza is. But they know you keep saying, “I hate capitalism. Fuck the west.” So they think you must be stupid and stop listening.
There has been a lot of work done to divide us on language. We’ve spent the past decade insisting that the best way to fight for causes is to change the language around them.
This has been a tremendous mistake. Like, a giant fucking mistake. When language changes naturally, it’s because hearts and minds were changed. When language changes by dictate, you can be certain some authoritarian butt munch is behind it, to sew chaos, confusion and division, making it impossible for us to come together as Americans and fight for our rights, and the human rights of people around the world.
That is what has happened.
And now the right is convinced that communism only lives in domestic leftist politics, and that Putin is a great guy. The left believes that capitalism is when a totalitarian state holds all the money, authority and power.
They’ve got us right where they want us, and we’re all playing our part.
Get off social media. Stop parroting political jargon you learned online. And for God’s sake, don’t mistake what is trending for what is right.
Let’s keep it simple. If you can’t let go of the word salad debate, let’s skip the communist/capitalist part all together.
Totalitarianism=bad.
Democracy and freedom=good.
You cannot shout jibberish at people and then call them stupid when they don’t understand. Speak to people in common language, and they will know what you are saying.
And stop tying children dying in a genocide to your personal economic philosophy. No one gives a shit and you’re obscuring the issue.
The children should be free. They should be fed.
Totalitarianism is bad.
